Probably the best pub in Jonesborough

Hi, we are Elena Gonzales and Anna Floyd! We’re delighted to share The Opossum’s Tale with you.

Our public house dream was initially sparked by our interest in cozy British murder mysteries, wherein they always end up at their “local” to discuss the case or celebrate its conclusion.

During the shutdown at the beginning of the pandemic, we would walk around downtown Jonesborough and dream about where we could have a celebratory pint, and as luck would have it a space opened up for us on Fox Street some two years later.

In the British tradition of pub-naming, we thought about local agriculture, animals, and trades before settling on The Opossum’s Tale. The name pays homage to the Virginia Opossum, the unsung hero of Appalachia, and to Jonesborough’s International Storytelling Festival.

We are not only excited to share our space with folks wanting to gather in the evenings for a hot meal and cold beverage, but also to provide a place to watch Premier League Soccer, which is another of our passions.

We look forward to welcoming you to Probably the Best Pub in Jonesborough!
